Three simple words. Together, they define the spirit that drives the members of our diverse, inclusive, and multi-faith community where membership is more than an honor. It’s a responsibility. A responsibility to show the world what we’re made of.
And to do so boldly.
I will always consider the 2020-21 academic year as one for the record books.
Due to the global pandemic, the majority of our university community continued to learn and work remotely. Despite those challenges, DePaul reached new milestones. We broke records. Our commitment to DePaul’s Vincentian, Catholic and urban mission grew even stronger.
“I remain humbled by the kindness and dedication I continue to witness our alumni, donors, faculty, staff and students demonstrate.”
President A. Gabriel Estaban, PhDIt was indeed a year like no other. For the second year in a row, we enrolled the largest and most diverse freshman class in university history. We created more than 100 new endowed scholarships. Our faculty secured nearly $13 million in new and continued external grant funding. We reinforced our social justice values by adopting a new mission statement. Our generous donors contributed a record-shattering $93 million – the highest single-year total in university history and almost 30 percent more than the previous high.
I invite you to read about these accomplishments and more in the 2020-21 President’s Report. As we forge ahead to a new academic year, I remain humbled by the kindness and dedication I continue to witness our alumni, donors, faculty, staff, and students demonstrate. We will stay true to our mission. We will enable all students to thrive. We will always Take Care, DePaul.
